Andrew and Niki Law
Owners of the Kings Head
Andrew was born in Jersey ( a long time ago), schooled there and completed 2 years at Catering College before working as one of the Chefs in 2 of the top hotels on the Island. After working in France for a spell he returned to Jersey, where he met Niki who was born just outside Oakhampton - nearly as long ago....schooled in Warwickshire and travelled to Jersey to work a summer season in a local restaurant.
Shortly after meeting, Andrew & Niki went on holiday to South Africa & stayed for 9 years! During that time they got married, both worked in some of the top hotels and restaurants of the fairest Cape, until Niki saw the light & went to work - very successfully - for a national newspaper as a photographer.
They returned to Jersey in 1989 & over the next five years had 2 boys, Alex, now 17 & currently at Truro College& Jamie, now 14 and at the Roseland School. In 1994 they went en famille to live and work in Mauritius and over the next four years enjoyed paradise in the Indian Ocean. The sale of Lonrho forced them back to the U.K.in early 1999 and then the job of General Manager at the Nare Hotel bought Andrew and his family here to Cornwall.
Throughout their time together (23 years married January next year!) it had always been at the back of their minds to have a place of their own and finally the opportunity arose 5 years ago here at the Kings Head

The Staff
We have a great team of staff here at the Kings Head. We have Andrew in the kitchen and working with him on a daily basis are Steve Smith, Chef and our youngest son Jamie. Steve who has been with us for three years this June and who is well qualified after five years in large 4 star Hotel kitchen and is already proving to be a valued member of staff!
With Niki out front there is Ben Hawkins, who also does the food orders and bar management. We have those who work here who are rarely seen, as they come and do their jobs first thing in the mornings and then gone, they are Christina and Shane, they are joined by a host of lovelies both at the front and the back of house,including, Jenna,Andrew, Liz, Lydia, Megan, Devan, Sam Hatfield, Sam Cook, Tammy and now Jamie, our youngest son, saving to go to Canada, he joined us part time two Years ago and works as third Chef with his father and Steve, most of the time and occaisonally works out front too. A great team effort. People often ask us ' Who does it all on your day off', to quote a line from someone else ' the same people who do it when we are there!"
